Cormorant of Seal Bay Nature Park, Vancouver Island east coast

There are moments when time seems to pause, moments where we can quietly witness a fragment of life.

Was this cormorant about to fish? Had it just finished? Or perhaps it was simply drying its wings in the evening light.

According to my bird guides, cormorants can be found in most regions of the world. I remember watching a Great Cormorant fishing in the Durance River, back in my native Hautes-Alpes in France. This encounter reminded me that wherever we go, there is always something familiar waiting to bring us back to our roots.
